Discounted Train Tickets and Cheap Lunches

Today I went to the train station and bought a special card for the French train system that they offer to people under 25 which allows up to a 65% discount when purchasing train tickets.  I then immediately put it to use by buying the remaining train tickets that I needed for my vacation.

After that, I went to the campus at Paul Valery and put some money on my student ID card, which will allow me to go to the secret student cafeteria above the normal cafeteria.  The only form of payment that they accept up there is by using the student ID card as a sort of debit card.  But it was easy enough to figure out and definitely worth it, because you can get full meals for only three euros, which is about  two euros cheaper than the sandwiches that I have been getting from the other university restaurant and various cafés around town.  Today, for example, I had lasagna and couscous with a side dish and a dessert for three euros.  It tasted pretty good, as well.

So now I have a cheap place to eat lunch and the ability to buy discounted train tickets.  A pretty good day, economically speaking.
