I am in
London I took the train from Paris and
everything went very smoothly. I am
getting to enjoy travelling by train. It
is a lot less hectic than travel by airplane.
My hostel is nice, except for them charging for the
internet. Also, my laptop does not
receive the wifi signal in my room, so if I want to use internet, I have to go
out into the hallway. Update: the signal
is very spotty throughout the place, so my updates will be harder to post.
I am still assembling a list of things to do, but the first
thing I will do tomorrow is go to the Portobello Road Market, which is an
open-air market held on Friday and Saturday mornings. It came highly recommended by a family
friend. I also plan on seeing Buckingham
Palace, Westminster Abbey, Regent’s Park, Trafalgar Square, the Globe Theater,
and other “must see” sights.
The neighborhood of my hostel is pretty nice. It borders a park called “Shepherd’s
Green”. There is a giant shopping center
called Westfield across the way that
is filled with all sorts of stores and dozens of restaurants. There is a constant stream of people moving
up and down the street, even at 11:00 at night, so I feel pretty safe in the
area.
