The satisfaction of adding the words "...in France" to sentences

Yesterday I learned that the French have a national snack-time at about 4:00 in the afternoon to help tide them over until dinner, which is usually about 8:00.  I feel cheated.  I wish I had known about this beforehand, this is the kind of thing I like to participate in.

Today I booked my train tickets for the first part of my winter break at the end of February and beginning of March.  I’ll be heading to Paris for a week and after that to London.  If I can, I will try to get over to Ireland, but I would have to work out transportation and those sorts of details.  I am starting to get pretty excited for the trip.

I also finally received word about my internship.  It looks like I will be working at a local radio station, FM+.  There are a wide variety of duties that I could potentially performing, so I will update you all with more details about that later.

Yesterday, after class I was wandering along the Esplanade, though a park, towards the Place de la Comédie when I encountered two of my friends from another American program.  As we stopped and talked for quite a while, we agreed on an important realization: just about any everyday activity can be transformed from mundane to satisfactory simply by the grace of being able to add the words “…in France.”  For example, yesterday after we finished our conversation, I went to the store to buy shampoo… in France.”  Or, “I had a coffee at a small outdoor café in France.”  It really makes me grateful that I’ve been able to have such a great opportunity to live in another culture, especially one as rich as this one.

So my courses are going well and I look forward to starting my internship… in France.
